The South Hams is a delightful region of South Devon, sitting South of Dartmoor, East of Plymouth and South West of Torbay, it contains lovely towns and villages such as Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Bigbury
The whole area has for years been a popular destination for those in the know, and often kept as a closely guarded secret. The beaches are some of the best in the area and places such as Salcombe are widely recognised as some of the prettiest towns in the country.
Dartmouth, a busy naval town with spectacular harbour and castle, is a real sailors paradise, and the town has a real nautical feel. The drive south to the town of Bigbury on Sea is a winding drive through tiny Devon roads across lovely scenery to a beautiful beach with the famous Burgh Island with its hotel and ancient Pilchard inn, the island is cut off at high tide and only reachable by Sea Tractor!
